Tyszowiecka konfederacja, zawiązana w 1655 pod Tyszowcami przez szlachtę i wojsko koronne pod wodzą hetmanów koronnych S. Potockiego i S. Lanckorońskiego. Konfederaci wzywali cały naród polski do opowiedzenia się po stronie Jana Kazimierza i podjęcia walki z wojskami szwedzkimi. Taki obrót spraw w Polsce sprowokowany został przez samowolę i rozpasanie wojsk szwedzkich, liczne nieposłuszeństwa i brak tolerancji dla Kościoła. Szwedzi postępowali w Polsce jak w kraju podbitym, a nie jak w części królestwa szwedzkiego, którą de facto była wtedy Polska po podpisaniu przez szlachtę układów oddających koronę polską Karolowi X.
